Acting and Coaching History...TO START: I started my professional acting career at the age of 13 playing a little boy in “Attila” at the Houston Grand Opera. It sparked my interest in performance and eventually I was able to get some parts (for girls of course) in the plays at my middle school. KINKAID HIGH SCHOOL: By the end of high school I had performed in over 30 plays and musicals for the Kinkaid acting company including lead roles in “Grease”, “Oklahoma”, “Macbeth”, “Romeo and Juliet”, and “Little Shop of Horrors”. After being on set for the film “Rushmore” starring Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman, I knew that I would dedicate my life to the study, practice and teaching of acting. The experience on set learning from successful actors in the industry showed me from a young age that this was the career for me. I started giving private acting lessons my junior year in high school to the incoming freshman actors who wanted to take part in our very competitive drama program. I had a knack for developing and teaching talent and soon people began coming to me for help. This transitioned into my summer job as I taught at the Kincaid acting camp under Patty Edwards. I conducted acting classes and workshops for lower and middle school children covering acting basics and improv games. YALE UNIVERSITY: After high school, I was accepted into the Yale University Drama program and moved to New Haven to enroll and continue my training. After I auditioned and was accepted into the acting track of the Theater Studies at the end of my freshman year, I declared my double major in Theater Studies and English. I felt so blessed to learn at a place where Meryl Streep and Jodie Foster had studied. During my four years I studied both dramatic literature and playwriting extensively; concentrating particularly on the works of William Shakespeare under Professor Harold Bloom. My acting coursework included all levels of Advanced Acting, Speech and Performance, and Shakespeare Acted. While at Yale, I was offered a spot in the Yale Dramat, the oldest acting company in the country and I was given the opportunity to write, perform, and direct over 40 plays and musicals in my four years at Yale. My favorite roles included Alice in “Closer”, which eventually became a major motion picture starring Natalie Portman, and the French opera, “Candide”. I was able to work on such dramatically different parts from Ophelia in Hamlet to Connie in “A Chorus Line” to Alice in “Alice in Wonderland”. I continued my work giving private acting lessons to members of the dramat and to children in the area but also split my time as a volunteer talent scout at a local children’s acting company. After completing my senior thesis for my major in Theater Studies in which I performed the role of Cathy in Jason Robert Brown’s new musical The Last 5 Years, I graduated Yale University cum laude with high distinction in Theater Studies. PLAYS & MUSICALS ON BROADWAY After my training at Yale, I moved to New York and landed my first part in an off-Broadway show in New York where I played the lead in the Musical, “Belles of the Mill”. I worked on and off-Broadway for a few years on films and musicals while working extensively as a private acting coach for high school students in the area. Eventually, the cold weather got to me and I moved to Los Angeles to focus on my film and television career. FILM & TELEVISION IN LOS ANGELES : When I arrived in LA I got straight to work learning from the best. I enrolled in Leslie Kahn’s acting classes and moved up the ranks of the Groundlings School for improvisational theater. I appeared on E!, FX, MTV, Nickelodeon and the WB while working on numerous independent film projects and joining the Screen Actors Guild. Please see my resume for a complete list of credits. ACTING LESSONS IN LOS ANGELES : During that time I have been giving private acting lessons for actors of all ages and skill levels in the Los Angeles area. I have also worked as the resident acting coach for the Fast Lane films production company helping coach and direct actors for feature films, commercials and television, including the feature film “Lady Samurai”. My current students can be seen appearing on CSI, Nip/Tuck, The Office, Smallville. For my Current projects, check out the news section of my website.
